I’ve spent the last couple of days working very hard to update my website and work out my class schedule for the next six weeks. You may notice that things are a little chaotic on the web site right now and not everything is likely to be working as planned. I’m using Eventbrite to manage class registrations, which so far, seems to be working quite well.
Given all the turmoil, I thought I’d make a blog post that pointed folks to some of the FREE classes that I already have scheduled and am accepting registrations for. I’m very anxious to start teaching, so please feel free to register for any classes that are already posted on the site. If you have questions, or find something that isn’t working, please let me know. I’d rather be reminded of a problem I’m already aware of, then let an unknown problem sit unresolved.
For the time being, this is what I’m calling my FREE introductory class. This one will be a fairly basis introduction to social media, as well as to the other classes I’m offering. Everyone is welcome! A registration link is up for at least two sessions of this class.
Note: This class is offered at EduFire.Com.
Put simply, Social Media refers to the ever expanding number of websites where users create content for other users. From creating videos, sharing photos, social networking, or notifying your friends about what you had for breakfast, most of us are engaged in the world of social media. Every student or teacher at EduFire.Com is already taking part in the social media revolution as we create classes and teach each other what we know. However, its virtually impossible for most of us to keep up with the new tools and trends in the world of social media, that seem to be changing on a daily basis. This introductory class will try to answer the following basic questions (and more…..):
1. What is Social Media?
2. How is Social Media relevant to me?
3. Can social media really be used for social good? If so, then how?
4. Besides Facebook, Twitter, and Edufire (of course), what are the top 10 Social Media sites that are changing the world?
5. There’s just too much social media out there, how do I manage it all?
