After a long absence, I’m looking to work my way back into the worlds of online democracy, civic participation, public participation, and social media. Officially, I’ll be underway next week, when I teach my first class at Edufire.Com. Edufire.Com offers a powerful set of tools for teachers and students to share knowledge and participate in a lively international community of learning.
Edufire.Com allows teachers to offer free or paid classes (starting at $5 per session) as well as 1 on 1 tutoring. I’ve set up my FREE account and taken some of their orientation classes. When a teacher offers a paid class on their system, they keep 15% of revenues to cover overhead and pass the rest along to the teacher.
In an attempt to be creative, I’ve titled my first class, “Social Media: Follow Me to Facebook for something Delicious.” Get it????
For more info about the class, just follow the link.
This class is scheduled for Monday Feb. 22nd at 9:00 PM (Central Time). It will be FREE as it is the first time I’m using the system, so please come and be my guinea pigs! To convert time to your local time zone, visit The World Clock and start with “USA – Minnesota – St. Paul.” If you set up an account on Edufire.Com, they will do the conversion for you.
Update: I’ve decided to go ahead and host most of my classes myself, rather than using EduFire. However, I still like the EduFire site and community alot, so I’m trying to make sure that I host at least two classes a week on their site. More on this, as it develops.
